Talent gets them looked at. Preparation keeps them there.
Cantera is the at-home development system for parents of 8 to 11 year old footballers: how a child fuels, how they move, what they practise every day, and how they learn to read a game. Built to European academy standards, and refined over four years of running it at home with children of exactly this age.

Read this before anything else
Your child's talent is not rare.
That sentence is hard to read, and almost nobody at your club will say it out loud. Every Saturday there is a kid who scores four and gets told by the touchline that they will play professionally one day. Scouts watch hundreds of those children a season. Talent is the price of entry.
Ask instead why children are released at 9, 10 and 11, and a second pattern appears. They faded in second halves. They could not come back from a mistake. They had one foot. They never looked before the ball arrived. They only trained when a coach made them. Every one of those is a preparation problem, fixable years before it costs anything, and at this age the environment that fixes it is yours to build.
Nobody can promise your child a professional contract, and nothing on this site will. What you can control is whether they were ever let go for a reason that was sitting inside your house.
01 Inside the system
What you are actually buying
Not theory, and not a reading list. Protocols with timings, tables with numbers, and conversations scripted word for word, so a tired parent can run them on a Wednesday without deciding anything first.
- 01Hour-by-hour match-day fuelling protocol
- 02The 12-minute pre-match routine, step by step
- 03A full season of 20-minute backyard sessions
- 04Honest benchmarks at ages 8, 9, 10 and 11
- 05Scripts: the nightmare game, the dropped trial, "I don't want to go"
- 06Academies, agents and club politics, decoded
195 pages · zero filler · word-for-word scripts
Instant download - including future updates
02 What the money buys
Three ways to spend on a footballing child.
Two of them rent you someone else's time. The third hands you the system and lets you run it for the rest of their childhood.
Weekly private coaching
~$2,400 a year, every year
About $50 a session, once a week, across a 48-week season.
- One hour a week of focused technical work
- Drills out of context, with no season plan behind them
- Nothing about fuelling, sleep or recovery
- Nothing to say on the drive home after a bad game
- Stops the moment you stop paying
Commercial "elite" programmes
~$1,500 a year, plus kit
Season fees before the tracksuit package and the tournament levies.
- Extra contact time and a branded tracksuit
- "Exposure" is the product being sold, not development
- No power to register a child at an academy
- Nothing that changes what happens in your house
- Renews every season, forever
The Complete Pro Pathway Playbook
$249 once, and never again
Yours to keep, including every future edition.
- 195 pages, seven modules, 44 diagrams
- Hour-by-hour match-day fuelling protocol
- A 12-week balance programme and a 12-minute warm-up
- The hard conversations, scripted word for word
- Runs every week of the year without another invoice
Do not pay a coach by the hour for what a book can teach you once. Five private sessions cost more than the entire system, and the coach goes home at the final whistle.
Figures are typical market rates for weekly one-to-one coaching and commercial development programmes, and will vary by club and region. Check what yours charges: the comparison only has to survive your own arithmetic.

04 The complete system
The Pro Pathway Playbook
The free guide shows you what elite preparation looks like. This is the execution layer: the daily and weekly systems that turn it into what simply happens in your house, written for parents with no sports-science background.
Seven modules, a scenario index, and 44 diagrams drawn for a parent who has never been coached. It is an execution manual rather than a book to read cover to cover: run the first seven days, then let the season send you to the module it needs.

05 What is inside
Seven modules and a scenario index
The Elite Environment
How the academy system actually works age by age, what being signed at under-9 commits a family to, and what a club's category number means for your weekends. How to judge a club inside one session, and how to move clubs without making an enemy in a small county. Then the video resume, start to finish, including the five mistakes that kill parent videos in the first thirty seconds.
- EPPP explained
- the honest odds
- the one-session club audit
- the video resume
High-Performance Nutrition
Your child stops fading after half time. The plate model measured in their own hand, the match-day protocol hour by hour, the weekly eating structure, a hydration matrix by size and weather, and a heat protocol. Plus the swap matrix for a fussy eater, the sleep system built backwards from the school wake-up, and what a growing daughter's body starts to need.
- the two plates
- the match-day clock
- swap matrix
- the female athlete
- heat and hydration
Physical Architecture
The twelve-minute warm-up a physio would build, with timings, and a six-minute version for the child who would rather die than look different. The recovery sequence, a twelve-week balance programme, and the symptom table that tells you when a few days' rest is the answer and when to see someone. Then the three shapes that protect knees, taught as two garden games.
- the RAMP warm-up
- the balance programme
- knees over laces
- the symptom table
Technical and Tactical Development
Honest benchmarks for what academy level looks like at 8, 9, 10 and 11, so you can place your child privately instead of guessing from the touchline. The backyard curriculum: twenty minutes a day across four seasonal blocks, with one ball and two cones. Deliberate scanning drills, the weekly film ritual, and the Iberian method in your garden.
- the benchmarks
- the backyard curriculum
- scanning
- the Iberian method
Reading the Game
The longest module in the book, and the part of the game grassroots coaching rarely reaches at this age. The pitch drawn as a map of thirds, wide channels and half-spaces. The shapes a child will actually play at 5v5, 7v7, 9v9 and futsal. Pressing and blocking and when each is right, the seconds either side of a turnover, and every position seen from inside that shirt.
- the map and the shapes
- high press vs low block
- transitions
- position by position
The Pro Mindset
The module you will use on the drive home after a bad game. The consistency framework that survives week three, reward structures that build drive instead of buying it, and the scripts word for word: the nightmare game, the dropped trial, the coach who plays favourites, the first "I don't want to go". Plus a toolkit that belongs to the player rather than to you.
- the consistency framework
- the scripts
- the player's toolkit
- pressure
The Parent's Execution Guide
Your own game. The touchline code, and the parent behaviours academy staff note from the fence while everyone assumes they are watching the children. The calendar that fits two trainings, a match, the daily twenty minutes and a sibling with a life of their own. What a season actually costs, and the adults who appear once a child starts looking good.
- the touchline code
- the calendar and the costs
- the adults who appear
The scenario index
Seasons do not follow chapter order. One table, nineteen rows, each one something that actually happens: heel pain after training, a hot tournament weekend, an academy invitation, a nightmare game that finished twenty minutes ago, someone asking to represent your child. Every row points to the module that answers it.
- usable on the night you need it
06 Who writes it
Written from inside the same season you are in.
This is not written by a coach with a badge to sell. It comes from four years of working through the research that decides youth development, testing it on real Saturday mornings, and keeping only what survived contact with an ordinary family.
Match footage gets broken down frame by frame on a Sunday to find the half-second improvements nobody notices from the fence. The Playbook is the blueprint that should have existed four years ago.

Questions parents actually ask
Will this get my child signed?
No, and anybody telling you otherwise is selling to your hopes. Genetics, luck, injuries and timing all get a vote. What the Playbook removes is the other side of the ledger: if your child is ever released or overlooked, it will not be for a preventable reason.
My child is at grassroots, not an academy. Is it still for us?
Yes. Most of the system runs in a back garden with one ball and two cones, and the module on the academy world is there so an invitation lands as information rather than shock. Nothing in it requires a club place you do not have.
How much time does it actually take?
Twenty to thirty minutes of home ball work a day, never two hours, with one full rest day a week that is protected like a fixture. The book is firm about that: anything more is how you manufacture burnout or an injury.
Will this work where we live?
Yes, with one translation. Almost everything in the book happens in your kitchen and your garden, and that travels anywhere. The academy module uses the English pathway as its worked example because it is the most formalised system in the game, so map the local specifics, the registration ages and your own governing body, onto what you read. If your season runs on the opposite half of the year, shift the seasonal training blocks by about six months.
Can I get a refund?
It is a digital product delivered instantly, so change-of-mind refunds are not offered. Nothing about that affects any statutory consumer rights you have where you live. The guarantee is the free guide: it is the same system at lower resolution, so you can see whether it changes your match day before you spend anything.
